Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

• be able to understand a dialogue expressed orally in Chinese and French and to express it in the other language, in both directions (version and Retour).
For the consecutive interpreting course, the learner must, at the end of the semester, be able to understand a speech expressed orally in Chinese and to express it in French. The student will also master the basic techniques of note-taking in interpreting.
 
Content
Dialogues are prepared by the teacher who recites them in front of the learners; they must then, subsequently, translate them into each of the two languages. These dialogues are, in general, exchanges of questions and answers between individuals or delegations within the framework of trade missions.
ÌýFor the consecutive interpreting course, long sentences and audio texts (the length and difficulty of which increase over the course of the semester) on various themes (society, culture, economy, etc.) are prepared by the teacher and broadcast in class. The learner, after listening to them, must translate them orally into French. In addition, an introduction to note-taking in interpreting will be given in the middle of the semester.
Teaching methods
Direct learning in real presence, taking notes is allowed.ÌýPractical exercises in consecutive and liaison interpreting, courses given in the presence of the protagonists.
Evaluation methods
A 20-minute exam at the end of the semester during which the learner must be able to interpret each part of the dialogue in both languages.
