Nele De Raedt
Professeure
I am an engineer-architect, specialized in the field ofÌýthe Theory, History and Criticism of Architecture. I amÌýmainly interested inÌýlate medieval and early modern architectural theory and its interactionsÌýwith political theory, legal history, and the history of emotions. Although architectural treatises are part of the corpus of texts I study, I mainly workÌýwith moral and political literature, as well as legal texts, as such texts createÌýtheoretical models on architectural design and patronage, and discuss architecture in relation to broader societal questions.
Over the past years, I have made multiple research stays abroad, thanks to fellowships from the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence - Max-Planck-Institut, the Belgian Historical Institute in Rome and the Academia Belgicae. As an active member of the European Architectural History Network (EAHN), I contribute to the network's efforts to create international collaboration and conversation on the multiple histories of architecture.
