Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Understand the contribution of economics to the analysis of environmental problems
Apply theoretical concepts in environmental economics by
  • Analyzing an environmental problem with economic theories either in groups or individually and/or
  • Presenting an application of economic analysis of environmental problems to other students.
 
Content
- Introduction to environmental economics and sustainable development
- Macroeconomics and the environment
- Microeconomics and the environment
- Economic evaluation of environmental projects
- Environmental policy instruments
- Economics of natural resources
- Global environmental challenges (subject to be decided by students)
Teaching methods
Formal lectures + thematic discussions
Evaluation methods
First session
  • 15 points for the written exam in session
  • 5 points for the global environment project (4 points for the test and 1 point for participation)
  • 2 bonus points in class
Second session: oral exam with 2 questions
