Main themes

Particular problematics variables according to academic years, will be approached: offence of manners, victimology, abuse in the relations... The course will draw the attention to paradigmatic and theoretical divisions of the criminological knowledge.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :
1	The objective of this teaching is double : 1. On the one hand, to introduce the student with an interdisciplinary reflexion on criminological sets of themes 2. On the other hand, to sensitize it with the implications of this interdisciplinarity in the construction of the knowledge.

Content

The course aims to present the central concepts in criminology from different perspectives, with respect to the various disciplines that deal with criminology (sociology, law, psychology, biomedical sciences).
These concepts are presented, analyzed and illustrated by field experiences, research results, and current debates related to contemporary issues in the field of deviance and delinquency.

Evaluation methods

Attendance at practical sessions is required. In accordance with article 72 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, the Professors may propose to the jury that a student who has at least two unjustified absences for the practical sessions, be refused registration for the January, June or September session.
In the middle of the course, students are required to complete a short intermediate written homework (in French) which is not graded but is then discussed with them in order to assess their expected level of competency in the subject. Only students who have submitted this work will be admitted to the written examination on the content of the tutorial.
The whole evaluation aims to measure the acquisition of the learning outcomes specified above.
For this course, students are assessed on the basis of two tests:

1. A written exam (in French) on the content of the lecture course, consisting of several open-ended questions, each of equal weight (60% of the final mark).
2. A "take home" (in French) on the content of the tutorials, about a topic in relation to the subject of the TD followed by the student, to discuss in the form of an argued and documented essay聽(40% of the final mark).聽聽聽聽聽聽聽

The final mark is the weighted average of marks A and B. In the final mark, part A is worth 12/20 and part B is worth 8/20.
For the second session, the written exam for the lecture course will be the same as in the first session, but the聽TDs assessement聽may be adapted (a written essay instead of a take-home) depending on the number of students.聽
The use of AI in personal essays must be justified and mentioned, otherwise the assesment will be annulled for cheating.
