Prerequisites
The first part of the dissertation has no prerequisite but extends the work initiated by the student within the framework of the accompanying seminar LCOMU2910.
Main themes
In this first part of the dissertation, the student will report on substantial progress in the construction of his or her research or project to his or her designated promoter at the end of the LCOMU2910 seminar and during the introduction of his or her dissertation in February.

Content
 This first part of the thesis works on the basis of meetings with its promoter (number to be defined with him/her) during the first year of the master's program (generally in Q2). The aim of these meetings is to improve or reinforce the subject of the dissertation as introduced by the student in the systems. The promoter is the reference person listed on the form. Reminder: it is imperative to obtain his or her prior agreement before introducing his or her name on the form.  Â

Evaluation methods
The evaluation will be carried out by the promoter on the basis of a final report of 10K to 15K signs (spaces included; indicative bibliography not included) containing:
1.The presentation of the research subject or project and a substantiated justification of the issue at stake
2.A synthesis (possibly integrated) of at least three scientific articles related to the theme or project.
3.The drafting of a problematic with reference to the articles treated and proposal of a first central research question.
4.A proposal for a methodology for data collection, or evaluation of the effects of the device in the case of a project-master thesis.
5. A forecast Table of Contents
6. A substantial indicative bibliography
7. A realistic progress schedule during the second year of the master’s program
In her/his evaluation, the promoter will also take into account the student's activity during and around the meetings (max. 20% of the final grade).
