AA-FS-TA. Develop expertise and a high level of competence in the field of adapting audio-visual material into French, from two foreign languages, with a view to participating successfully in the professional multilingual audio-visual sector.
Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit
On completing this unit the student is able to:
·         Demonstrate his or her knowledge and command of the norms governing interlingual subtitling and their development; 
·         Utilize professional subtitling software;
·         Analyse existing productions using a scientifically-based approach.
 
Content
Students are trained in the use of the professional program EZTitles©. A variety of audiovisual files are used: short films, animated cartoons, documentaries, and so forth. The teaching is professional training. Students are trained to deliver a final product that would meet the quality requirements of the workplace
Teaching methods
Instruction takes place in the computer room on machines running EZTitles© software. Attendance is compulsory.
Evaluation methods
During the exam session in January each student submits an individual assignment. Exams duriing the August/September session are the same. These assignments demonstrate their command of the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of subtitling, supertitling and audio description.
