Detailed programme

Theoretical education with video sessions (3 days / week during 2 weeks) - 40 hours

The courses are organized In January (30th and 31st) and February (1st) 2025 and in June (5th, 6th and 7th) 2025. Lectures will be given at UCLouvain university by a team of Belgian endosonographers and hands-on teaching will be held in Belgian academic hospitals.

  • Principles of ultrasonography, doppler, harmonic imaging
  • EUS processors, scopes, probes (including mini-probes), 3D
  • Needles FNA-FNB
  • Optimizing EUS imaging
  • Contraindications of digestive EUS and management of complications
  • Normal anatomy in linear-array EUS
  • Normal anatomy in radial EUS
  • Ancillary techniques : Contrast Harmonic-EUS et EUS-elastography

APPLICATIONS AND INDICATIONS OF BILIOPANCREATIC EUS

  • Biliary lithiasis and benign biliary diseases
  • Malignant biliary diseases (cholangiocarcinoma and ampulloma)
  • ÌýAcute and Chronic pancreatitis (including autoimmune pancreatitis)
  • Neuroendocrine tumors
  • Solid pancreatic lesions
    • Differential diagnosis and histopathology
    • Pancreatic adenocarcinoma: diagnostic EUS and staging
    • EUS-FNA, EUS-FNB

MEDIASTINAL EXPLORATION AND UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL EUS

  • EUS and EBUS anatomy, mediastinoscopy
  • EUS-FNA, EUS-FNB and EBUS-TBNA
  • Expectations of the onco-pulmonologist and the histopathologist
  • Subepithelial lesions

UPPER AND LOWER GASTROINTESTINAL EUS

  • Staging in esophageal, cardia and gastric cancer
  • Normal anatomy of the rectum and staging of rectal tumors
  • Normal anatomy of the anal canal and staging of anal cancer
  • EUS in anorectal disorders (dyschezia, incontinence)

THERAPEUTIC EUS (VIDEOS)

  • Collections drainage
  • CDS-HGS
  • Gallbladder drainage
  • Pancreatic drainage
  • Celiac plexus neurolysis
  • Luminal anastomosis

Day 3 :

  • Handson Sessions (2H30)

Congresses with BGDE, CFE or EGEUS (theoretical and practical part during CFE live or EGEUS live) – at least 13 hours of attendance. Hands-on teaching in endoscopy units in different academic and hospitals – 32 hours/4 days
