The Bachelor's program in art history and archaeology, musicology orientation, totals 180 credits spread over three annual blocks (3 x 60 credits). It comprises a 150-credit major and a 30-credit minor.
The bachelor's program has three main components:
- general optional training to consolidate a basic general culture (history courses by period, historical criticism, history of art and music, comparative approach to European literature, modern and ancient languages, philosophy, etc.). )
- training in the arts and civilizations of the different periods and geographical areas of Western Europe (periods and geographical areas are chosen by the student);
- training in all aspects of musicology (history, analysis, aesthetics, sociology, popular music, pop-rock music, organology, methodology, etc.).
The first year of the first cycle begins with a four-quarter course including general training common to historians, art historians and archaeologists. This common introduction to the fields of history, art history and literature provides a foundation for basic learning.聽
From the first four months of the first year, discipline-specific courses are also taught. These become the core of the course in the second four-month period of the first year. These include courses in musical training, introduction to musicology, music history, analysis, active listening and methodology. Particular attention is paid to outings and excursions (concerts or operas).
From the second year onwards, students pursue their major while being invited to broaden their intellectual and professional horizons by choosing a 30-credit minor from a varied list of minors common to the EHAC School.
