The evolution of society, increasingly digital, prompts us to modify the ways in which the university carries out its various missions.
- Regarding teaching, our students, digital natives, have now access to a huge amount of information. Education is becoming global. Teaching and learning practices are evolving.
- Regarding research, digital society extends the scope of scientific collaborations and launched new forms of collaborations that deserve to be better exploited.
- Regarding service to society, digital offers a greater opening of university to the non academic world; the digital university becomes much more accessible.
The creation, dissemination and acquisition of knowledge, both in the field of education and scientific research, is at the heart of UClouvain's 2015-2020 Digital Strategic Plan.
In 2021, UCLouvain is placing Open Science, Open Education and distance learning at the heart of a new digital transformation project to mark the institution's 600th anniversary. It contributes to the objectives of openness, innovation (transformation of the teaching environment) and international dynamism via Circle U.
Extending the digital experience developed in recent years, this project (PDF document, under CC-BY licence) aims to continue UClouvain's development in terms of Open Education, Open Science and distance learning.
