You can either take each course one by one with the Verified certificate at $199. The whole micro-program is then $996. Or you can purchase the 5Ìýcourses altogether with a discount of 10% on the total price ($897).

Please note that the Verified certificateÌýattesting your success in the 5Ìýcourses is needed if you intend to gain the MicroMasters program credential. It's not optional for MicroMastersÌýlearners.

EdX offers for learners in difficulty to pay the fee.

If you succeed in the MicroMasters program, you will receive a certificate from edX. The University of Louvain (UCLouvain) will not deliver a distinct or additional certificate to the one delivered by edX.

Please note that the edX certificate is not delivered by Louvain University (UCLouvain) and does not constitute a university degree.

Please refer to your respective national educational board to enquire about the validity of a certificate delivered by edX.

Each course of the International Law MicroMasters is worth five (5) credits in the Advanced Master in International Law offered by Louvain University (UCLouvain) on its main campus at Louvain-la-Neuve, in Belgium. The Advanced Master is a one-year (60 credits) postgraduate degree. As the MicroMasters program is made of five MOOCs, you can thus earn up to 25Ìýcredits and value those credits as part of the UCLouvain Advanced Master in International Law. The remaining 35 credits are made of a Master thesis (15 credits) and 4 of the 5 following courses (20 credrits in total):

• Theory and History of International Law (Q1 - 5 credits)
• International, Diplomatic, Consular and Immunities Law (Q1 - 5 credits)
• International Law of the Sea and of the Environment (Q2 - 5 credits)
• International Organizations, Peace and Security (Q2 - 5 credits)
• International Disputes Settlement (Q2 - 5 credits)

The academic year begins mid-September and ends with June of the following year. Exams take place in January and June, respectively for the courses of the Fall or Spring semester. Failed exams can be retaken between mid-August and mid-September.

Except for the Theory and History of International Law course, the other four remaining courses are taught during the Spring semester (February-June). Concerning the Theory and History of International Law course, it is possible to accomodate on an ad hoc basis specific distance learning for students who could not be present on campus during the Fall semester (mid-September and December).

As far as possible, the courses for the Advanced Master are grouped together over several weekdays, to make it possible for mature students to attend. In the past, students with professional responsibilities such as lawyers, diplomats serving in Brussels and European officials, have been allowed to stagger their courses over several academic years: this will continue according to criteria set by the university.

The Advanced Master is accessible to students having completed a Master degree, delivered by and established university. As a matter of principle, applicants should prove that they have (or are about to have) gained at least 300 university credits, combining a bachelor and a master degree, i.e. 5 years of university education.

Applicants who have no university education are not admissible.
Applicants who have a university bachelor degree only are not admissible.
Applicants who have a bachelor degree and a master degree gained over less than 5 academic years (not counting possible failed years) are admissible only if they have gained additional education or assessable professional experience.

Applicants should preferably have gained a Master degree in Law, or an equivalent foreign degree in law, most preferably with honours. However, the Advanced Master in International Law is not reserved for lawyers : applicants holding a Master degree in international relations, political science, journalism or any other degree including basic legal education may join the program if they have gained a high grade for their degree.

Applications forms should be submitted in the usual way, with the necessary supportive documents; they are considered by the President and the Secretary of the Advanced Master panel. Applicants wo satisfy academic entry requirements are informed by email straight away.

Standard enrolment fess are as follow :

• Nationals of EU member States : €835.00
• All other nationals : €4175.00

Some reduced fees exist. In particular, the EnrolmentÌýOffice may decide that certain non-European Union students are affected by an ordinary fee payment of €835 instead of €4175, because they meet one of the following conditions :

• They can prove their assimilation to a Belgian student status;
• They are nationals of one of the following PVD / LDC countries + Côte d'Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, Cameroon, Nigeria, Syria, Swaziland, Pakistan, Keny, Ghana and Congo (Brazzaville);
• They have acquired at least 75´of their EAP (Annual Student Program) during their previous enrolment in the French-speaking Community of Belgium, except for the transition from one degree to another (bachelor's degree to master's degree or master's degree to advanced master's degree).
