Introduction
When you enrol for Modern Languages and Letters: German, Dutch and English, you have the choice of combining two Germanic languages, chosen from English, Dutch and German.
By the end of the first cycle you will have
- gained a solid knowledge, both practical and theoretical, of the two languages;
- gained solid general, literary and linguistic knowledge;
- had the chance of a stay abroad.

Your future job
Graduates in Modern Languages and Letters: German, Dutch and English work in business (management, administration, etc.) ; some become teachers, editors, translators or interpreters, others journalists or proof-readers; yet others become managers, company secretaries, booksellers, legal advisers, tourist guides or work as attachés in government departments or NGOs.
Some seek a career in the performing arts such as the theatre.
This training also opens the door to a wide range of other types of employment which do not (yet) have an official title.
Your programme
The Bachelor’s degree offers you the opportunity to
- learn the many facets of two modern languages;
- make an in-depth study of the culture, linguistics and the literature of the two languages;
- get practically oriented training in your chosen languages: courses given in the languages, specific courses on communication skills, practical exercises, language labs, conversation courses, wide variety of multimedia tools, etc.;
- have close supervision in small-scale auditoria;
- make a study visit abroad as part of the Erasmus exchange programme.
Your parcours
At the end of the 1st cycle (bachelor's degree), you can take the Master [120] in Modern Languages and Literatures : German, Dutch and English.
Your bachelor’s degree will also enable you to study other related fields (such as, for example, the Master [120] in Multilingual Communication, the Master [120] in Linguistics, the Master [120] in Translation or the Master [120] in European Studies).
