The Master 120 in Journalism offers an "Erasmus or International Exchange" option enabling students to take 20 credits of their 2nd year block programme at another university. This 3 to 4 month stay is undertaken by the student in the first or second semester.
Some fifty destinations are available to students (/fr/facultes/espo/comu/etudiant-out.html):
3 in Belgium as part of Erasmus Belgica projects ;听
6 outside Europe ;
3 in Switzerland ;
around forty as part of Erasmus programmes.听
To be selected, students must write a relevant CV and a covering letter setting out their plans and how their stay abroad will fit in with their course. They must propose three destinations. The procedure has been computerised. The documents must be completed online by the end of January. The selection process is carried out during the following week by the relevant School authorities. The list of successful candidates (subject to success in June) will be announced at an information session in February. 听
The selection criteria are :
the relevance of the project to the training course;
prior knowledge of the language of the country visited or commitment to follow a training course;
academic results.
Applicants must also undertake to help host Erasmus students.
The School will always give priority to sending as many students as possible who reasonably meet the criteria. In some cases, given the excessive demand for certain destinations, the committee will be obliged to grant the second or third choice.
The School of Communication also offers the unique opportunity of a double degree with renowned international partners. Selected students spend the first year at the partner university and the second year at UCLouvain. They earn two master's degrees.
In journalism, the partner is the University of Neuch芒tel (Switzerland).

In addition to traditional exchange agreements, several external institutions are partners in this programme.
For example, as part of the Th茅ophraste network, the University of Laval in Quebec is a partner of the Louvain School of Journalism for the 'European and International Journalism' option. Students specialising in this option can follow part of the training offered in France or Canada and, in particular, take part in a study trip to the United States to work with international institutions and foreign newsrooms.
