Minor in sustainable development (MIN-LDVLD100I)
Any student whose bachelor’s course includes a minor can take part in this introductory overview of social- and hard-science approaches to sustainable development. Students leave this course with a deeper understanding of the challenges to sustainable development.
Minor in development and the environment (MIN-LDENV100I)
Using quantitative methods and associated analytical tools, this minor offers students the opportunity to acquire a multifaceted understanding of environmental issues. The formal approach is rigorous and involves ecology, economics, and geopolitics to provide tools essential to investigating and finding effective solutions to the issues surrounding development and the environment.

Master’s course in social transitions and innovations (TIS2M)
This multidisciplinary master’s course, offered at the Hainaut campus, draws on the expertise of many institutions: UMons, UCLouvain, and the hautes écoles HEH, HEPH-Condorcet, and HELHa. Focused on social transitions and innovations linked in particular to the processes of globalisation, it invites students to explore and engage with our social and environmental structures. It deploys the combined resources of anthropology and sociology, as well as urban planning, architecture, economics, psychosociology, educational sciences, and political science.
Advanced interdisciplinary master course in the science and management of the environment and sustainable development (ENVI2MC)
Contributing to the resolution of environmental problems requires a mastery and careful integration of the scientific and technical as well as economic, legal, social, demographic, and political aspects of sustainable development. These are the objectives of this master’s course, created with the aim of enabling future professionals in the sector to interact with all concerned parties while developing a systematic approach to environmental issues and a synthetic vision from which may emerge the synergies concrete action requires.
Advanced master’s course in development, environment, and society (DVLP2MC)
This master’s course offers interdisciplinary training in research specialised in the field of development and recognised by the University Commission for Development (CUD). It is aimed at students from both the North and the South. Supervised by research and teaching teams from UCLouvain and ULiège, the programme is centred on analysis of development processes in their environmental contexts and of stakeholder practices.
Advanced master’s course in urban planning and land use (URBA2MC)
This advanced master’s programme focuses on those disciplines concerned with urban and land-use planning as a medium for advancing social, economic, and cultural development. It offers a route through the challenges and skills of urban planning and development, supported by a critical investigation of the concepts of development and of the relationship between societies and their environments.
Advanced master’s course in social economy (ECSO2MC)
Social finance, energy transition, short circuits, recycling, social assistance, collaborative and functional economies ... The possibilities for combining economic dynamics and social or societal goals are flourishing. This master’s programme, conducted jointly by ULiège and UCLouvain, offers students training in socioeconomics that combines economics, sociology, and ethics as well as business-management tools adapted to social enterprise. It allows students to decipher how the social economy can fuel the transition to a more sustainable society.
