Louvain Bionics

UCLouvain's hub for medical device+human research and innovation

Louvain Bionics is an interdisciplinary center of expertise created in 2014 thanks to the bequest of Mr. Pierre De Merre through the Louvain Foundation. The objective of Louvain Bionics is to bring together the talents of UCL researchers from three sectors—science and technology, health sciences, and humanities—who are interested in movement and robotic assistance to gestures. The goal is to strengthen knowledge and skills in fields such as surgical assistance, diagnostic support, and rehabilitation. The ambition of Louvain Bionics is to enable patients to fully benefit from research advances in the sciences and techniques of robotics and, more broadly, bionics. To this end, Louvain Bionics aims to identify, encourage, and develop innovative collaborative projects that address various health-related challenges.
